Festival

SXSWedu is an exciting reflection of the energy and passion at the intersection of teaching and learning today. To celebrate the innovation and creativity in education, SXSWedu extends beyond the traditional conference experience to include a number of exciting festival elements.

Driven by the collaboration of the entrepreneurs and educators at the event, LAUNCHedu has become an exciting place to preview and experience what’s unfolding in the rapidly evolving education marketplace. The products and services that debut in the LAUNCHedu competition play a crucial role in supporting learning.

The community response to the launch of eduFILM in 2013 illustrated an enthusiastic support for the unique look at education offered through film. eduFILM will return to SXSWedu in 2014 with additional high-impact documentaries, post-screening panels and more.

The SXSWedu Playground, an expansion of last year’s exciting Makerspace, will celebrate innovative pursuits in maker, STEM education, gaming, arts and more. The hands-on space encourages all attendees to engage their creative side.

Finally, the Education Expo is a free and open-to-the-public event for Central Texas high school students and their families, which will again take place during SXSWedu 2014 at the Austin Convention Center. Expanded from last year’s focus on college and career readiness, Ed Expo 2014 will celebrate student engagement from elementary and middle school grades too.

Updates regarding all SXSWedu festival events will continue to emerge as March approaches.
