Another day closer to SXSWedu 2016, another highlight of this year’s Film program!
One of the most anticipated films in our lineup this year, He Named Me Malala, portrays Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and education activist. Malala was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded by gunshot for speaking out in favor of girls' education in Pakistan’s Swat Valley. The attack caught the attention of supporters around the world, and her miraculous recovery and tremendous bravery led her to become a global advocate for girls’ education.
Academy Award-winning director Davis Guggenheim captures delicately Malala’s dedication to fighting for educational equality and provides a glimpse into the life of one of the most impassioned and extraordinary young women to take up such a cause. He Named Me Malala is a thoughtful reminder that, in spite of the obstacles faced globally by girls and boys to receive a quality education, there are strong and inspiring individuals eager to overcome them.
