The Expo will return for a fifth year at SXSWedu 2017. The unique and high-energy event features more than a hundred exhibitors, student performances, a student startup competition and opportunities for personal and professional development through session programming and coaching.
Last year this event brought together more than 6,300 students, parents and educators from Central Texas. New for 2017, the Expo is expanding to a two-day event with the first day open only to SXSWedu registrants and the second day free and open the public.
As the Expo continues to grow, so do the opportunities to get involved. As we look towards March, we'll be seeking participants to fuel the various elements of the event. Learn more and get involved today!
Participation Opportunities for Students
The expo puts students center stage with a number of opportunities for students to participate at the event.
SXSWedu is proud to showcase the talent of learners on the Expo's NEXT stage with a lineup of young musicians, writers, entrepreneurs and more. Student performances will take place, Tuesday, March 7. Please fill out the Expo NEXT stage performance application by Friday, December 16 to apply for consideration.
Student Startup Competition
The SXSWedu Student Startup Competition, open to Central Texas high school students, will take place Tuesday, March 7. During the competition students will pitch their team's latest business idea to a panel of judges and live audience. The winner of the competition will take a cash prize to fuel their startup. All ideas are welcome - from creative ways to address poverty, to the development of a tool every student would want, to the launch of their own startup.
Applications for the 2017 competition will open December 5, 2016.
