2024 Schedule Deep Dive: Game-Based Learning
SXSW EDU is dedicated to encouraging and celebrating innovative learning practice in the classroom. One unique strategy that many educators have found successful is integrating game-based learning into curriculums to engage students in a way that is fun and entertaining.
In a study conducted by the National Library of Medicine, experts found that game-based learning was more effective than traditional methods and helped students understand topics at a deeper level. The result concluded that students earned higher test scores with an added game-based curriculum than those without.
The game-based learning industry is on the rise and is increasingly becoming more popular for classroom use. In March, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from experts who have mastered the integration of games, esports, role playing games, and tabletop games into their lesson plans, as well as other gaming strategies to keep students engaged in the classroom.
