Launch Application Deadline Extended to Sunday, November 12

The Launch entry deadline has been extended through Sunday, November 12 at 11:59pm PT.

The Launch competition celebrates emerging innovations in learning with a fast-paced pitch competition featuring early-stage startups during SXSW EDU. The competition is open to entrepreneurs seeking feedback, investment, strategic partnerships and exposure. Ten startups will be selected as finalists to pitch their products before a panel of industry experts, early adopters, investors and educators as well as the live SXSW EDU audience.

Competition Eligibility Requirements

• Have launched an early-stage startup company in the education market.
• Be incorporated with a management team and public facing website.
• Be able to convey a sustainable business model.
• Be able to demonstrate user traction, engagement and adoption metrics.
• Must not have raised over $2 million in funds from combined funding sources at time of application.

Tips for Entry

• Share your passion for learning – SXSW EDU is looking for entrepreneurs with a passion for innovation in education. Your application should highlight how your company is working to improve learning outcomes.


• Launch is geared towards early-stage companies – Startups come in all shapes and sizes but for the Launch competition we are specifically looking for early-stage companies that are no older than 3 years and have not raised more than $2 million in funding.


• Competing in Launch is a great opportunity for product validation – SXSW EDU provides a global stage for startups to shine a light on their work and serves as a platform to connect with potential investors, partners and users.


• Launch is open to all early-stage education startups – The competition is an opportunity for any startup working in the education vertical to apply, this includes (but is not limited to) K-12, higher ed, early learning, technology and online learning companies.
