The panel session, AI in Education: Opportunities and Challenges will dive in to the different outlooks on the future and uses of artificial intelligence. Speakers, Michael Tjalve (Microsoft), Tess Posner (AI4All), Marina Gorbis (Institute for the Future), and Leila Toplic (NetHope) will explore AI, one of the most transformative technologies of our time.

- What is & Who Should be Afraid of Global Pedagogy? will discuss how a Global EdTech Venture between EdTech leaders from the six continents is paving the way to an EdTech Global Market that will facilitate the penetration of innovation in all regions of the world. Panel speakers for the session are, Troy Williams (University Ventures), Vicki Philips (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), Matt Keller (XPRIZE), and Rose Luckin (Educate-University College London).
- Speakers Rick Gibson (Pepperdine University) and Jon Werbeck (AEG Global Partnerships) will explore the question, what happens when the larger than life world of sports collides with higher education? Their industry talk, Play It Forward: Sports & Higher Education, discusses how global sports brands are investing in our student’s futures through innovative partnerships to grow sports and increase access to quality education at the same time.
- Panelists weigh in on the rise of global edtech, and what that means for learners in the session, Pop Quiz: Which Country is Actually Leading Edtech? Speakers, Sophie Bailey (The EdTech Podcast), Jan Lynn-Matern (Emerge Education), Sophie Chen (JMDedu), and Patrick Brothers (Navitas Ventures) will explore questions like, which countries are on the rise, and what technologies and models are emerging elsewhere?
In addition to the sessions highlighted above, SXSW EDU celebrates emerging innovations in learning with a fast-paced pitch competition featuring early-stage startups, at the seventh annual Launch competition.
