Creating the Unified Generation with Special Olympics

Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® invites you during SXSW EDU to join the Unified Generation.

Did you know that over 6,500 schools nationwide are considered centers of inclusion? With the support of the U.S. Office of Special Education Programs at the Department of Education, Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® equip young people with tools and training to create climates of acceptance.

In Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools®, students with intellectual disabilities feel welcome and are routinely included in, and feel a part of, all activities, opportunities, and functions. This is accomplished by implementing inclusive sports, inclusive youth leadership opportunities, and whole school engagement.

They are creating an Inclusion Revolution. Join the Special Olympics movement by participating in these SXSW EDU activities and engage with themes of inclusion using #SpecialOlympicsSXSW:

Monday, March 3

Early Bird Social: Austin Convention Center, Ballroom A, 6:00pm-8:00pm

Come mix and mingle with your fellow attendees on Sunday evening after picking up your SXSW EDU registration badge and meet some representatives from Unified Champion Schools.

Unlocking Inclusion Exhibit: Come experience this interactive exhibit to discover more about Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools®

Unified Bocce: Take a break from the amazing sessions to play some bocce with local Special Olympics Texas athletes and volunteers.
