WGU: A Model for the Future of Higher Education

For the past twenty-five years, Western Governors University (WGU) has been the model for online competency-based education, working toward the goal of making higher education truly student-centered. WGU has been a driving force in the movement to a skills-based future of education and work. Through technological advances such as a portable learner record, WGU is working with its partners to assist students from all educational backgrounds in their pursuit of a successful future.

While at SXSW EDU 2022, thought leaders from WGU will share the innovative frameworks and experiential learning products that are designed to better support students and discuss the importance of economic mobility in higher ed.
